Riveting Practice

imageThis project was all about riveting practice. We had to do a regular rivet, and a ball rivet. To make the regular rivet, all you need is a very small wire, and 2 pieces of metal to attach. Then you hammer both sides of the wire which flattens it out and prevents it from falling out. Easy. The balled up rivet gave me lots of trouble. Making it is rather easy. All you do is torch it for about 5 seconds or until the end expands into a ball. Then, you cut it short, and hammer the end that isn’t balled. Three times I had to try this, and two of those times, the wire bent, and the ball broke off.
