My trip to Erbil was a life-changing experience. The people there are so much different from us, yet extremely similar. One of my favorite things about it was that there’s a giant citadel that the city was built around. It shows how important history is to the people there. It’s very easy to see certain aspects of our own lives in their daily routines. Most of them get up and go to work or school everyday. Just like us. Kids graduate from high school, and can go to the many universities around the country to pursue their dreams. Just like us. Overall, I would definitely go back and do the entire thing again. The experiences I had there, and the people I met, helped me see through the biased approach of our media, and see that the people there are actually quite fond of America. Thank you for reading.
